ENGLISH DEMOCRATS Press release
THE English Democrats have selected Peter Davies to stand as their candidate for the Doncaster mayoral election.
Born in Woodlands, Mr Davies now lives in Bessacarr. He is a retired school teacher and was head of politics and religious studies at Danum School where he worked for 30 years.
He believes in harsher punishments for young thugs and persistent offenders and that criminals should serve their full sentences. He has campaigned consistently for England’s withdrawal from the corrupt, expensive and undemocratic European Union.
He has pledged to reduce council tax over a four year period, starting in 2010, by:
Cutting extortionate levels of bureaucracy
Ditching Doncaster News
Stopping all translation services for immigrants
Reducing the number of councillors from 63 to 21
Axing all the authority’s politically correct jobs
Scrapping huge pay offers to senior managers
He would reduce the mayor’s salary from £62,000 to a maximum of £30,000 and hold a referendum on the mayoral governance of Doncaster. He believes that frontline services should be sacrosanct and would prioritise care of the elderly and vulnerable.
Mr Davies said: “The people of Doncaster cannot afford these continuous crazy council tax rises which are even more galling in light of the authority’s notoriously abysmal performance in crucial areas. The gravy train has to come to an end for elected councillors and council pen-pushers who are generally superfluous to requirements.”
